CTP rolls out smart e-challan system in Rawalpindi
News Desk
Rawalpindi: The City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi on Saturday launched an e-challan system powered by Safe City cameras, a major step toward improving traffic monitoring and enforcement across the city.
According to officials, more than 2,000 high-definition cameras have been installed at 359 key locations, enabling round-the-clock surveillance and stricter enforcement of traffic laws.
The fully operational Safe City cameras will automatically detect and record traffic violations — including helmet non-compliance, seat belt violations, speeding, and overloading — and generate e-challans. Each e-challan, containing photographic evidence and the relevant violation code, will be sent directly to the vehicle owner’s registered address through the integrated Safe City Command and Control Center.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam said the system would significantly streamline traffic control and strengthen law enforcement. He added that the automated monitoring would allow traffic wardens to concentrate more on maintaining smooth traffic flow, leading to better discipline on the roads.
The initiative aims to curb traffic violations, enhance road safety, and modernize traffic management across Rawalpindi.
