Rawalpindi: Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Fatima Beenish on Tuesday urged all motorcyclists to wear helmets to protect themselves and reduce the risk of fatal road accidents.

In a statement issued here, the CTO emphasized that wearing a helmet can be the crucial difference between life and death in the event of a crash. She urged riders to comply with traffic laws designed for their safety and protection.

Traffic wardens have been directed to take strict action against violators in accordance with the law, the CTO added.

In line with the enforcement drive, the City Traffic Police (CTP) have issued hundreds of challans and imposed fines on motorcyclists found riding without helmets. Additionally, a number of motorbikes have been impounded at various police stations for violating helmet regulations.

So far, over 20,000 motorcyclists have been fined for failing to wear helmets, the CTO concluded, stressing that strict adherence to traffic rules is essential to ensure safety on the roads.
