Peshawar: In a heartwarming and daring turn of events, officials from the Wildlife Department, along with locals, orchestrated a successful rescue mission for an injured crow that found itself entangled at a precarious height of 150 feet in an old pine tree in Manshera district.
Sarmad Hussain, the DFO Wildlife Manshera, detailed the challenging situation: “The crow was ensnared amidst a labyrinth of dense branches atop the District Court of Manshera.”
Responding to reports of the trapped crow, teams from Rescue 1122 and the Wildlife Department quickly arrived at the scene, recognizing the urgency of the situation.
The bird’s elevated position posed significant risks, making it exceedingly challenging for even the Rescue 1122 team to attempt the rescue, as explained by Sarmad. However, a local resident, familiar with climbing due to their upbringing in hilly terrain, offered to assist in the bird’s rescue after seeking permission and support.
Employing ropes to secure themselves and utilizing plastic pipes as a makeshift zipline, this brave individual ascended the tree and successfully brought the crow to safety, much to the admiration of onlookers. The courage and audacity displayed by the local hero, who risked their own life to save the trapped crow, received high praise from those present at the site.
In acknowledgment of this selfless act, DFO Wildlife Sarmad Hussain presented a cash prize to this courageous individual from Manshera district as a token of appreciation and commendation.
