Crime Roundup: Police Arrest Rape and Murder Suspects, Man Attempts Suicide

Rawalpindi/Muzaffargarh: Law enforcement agencies in Punjab took swift action in multiple criminal cases, arresting suspects involved in rape and murder while also responding to a tragic self-immolation attempt.

In Rawalpindi’s Kallar Syedan, police arrested a suspect, Adeel, for allegedly raping a woman and blackmailing her for money and jewelry after making a video. A case was registered following the victim’s complaint, and the accused was taken into custody.

Meanwhile, in Gujar Khan, two suspects, Hassan and Zeeshan, were arrested for allegedly murdering a citizen, Shahryar, due to a personal grudge. The police used human intelligence and modern technology to trace and apprehend the accused.

In Muzaffargarh, a man named Yaqub Hussain attempted self-immolation in the Chaubara tehsil of Layyah district following a domestic dispute. The incident occurred in Bahadur Wala, where he doused himself in petrol and set himself on fire after a heated altercation. Rescue 1122 teams provided immediate medical assistance and transported him to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital in critical condition. Local police are investigating the matter.
