Cricket Fever Grips Nations as T20 World Cup 2024 Kicks Off

New York: The stage is set for the much-anticipated T20 World Cup 2024 extravaganza, where cricket enthusiasts worldwide will witness a thrilling battle among 20 nations vying for supremacy in the shortest format of the game.
Co-hosted by the United States and the West Indies, this tournament promises an onslaught of boundaries and sixes as teams compete for glory.
In the opening match tomorrow (Sunday) at 5:30 am Pakistan time, the United States will take on Canada, while the host nation West Indies will face Papua New Guinea at 7:30 pm Pakistan time in the second match.
Pakistan’s campaign will kick off on June 6 against the host nation United States, followed by the highly anticipated clash against arch-rivals India in New York on June 9.
Having concluded their tour of Ireland and England, the Pakistan cricket team has landed in Dallas, United States, for a rigorous practice session ahead of their matches.
A record 20 teams will participate in this ICC mega event, with the tournament divided into four groups, each comprising five teams. Teams will battle it out in the initial phase, playing at least four matches against their group mates.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 8 stage, while the bottom three teams will bid farewell to the tournament.
In the Super 8 phase, the eight qualifying teams will be split into two groups, engaging in three thrilling matches against their opponents to secure a spot in the semifinals.
The semifinals will witness intense clashes as the best teams from the Super 8 vie for a place in the final showdown, scheduled for June 29 at the picturesque ground in Barbados.
Matches will be held at three venues in the USA (Lauderhill, Dallas, and New York) and at six venues across the Caribbean. Of particular interest is the India-Pakistan clash on June 9, slated to take place at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on Long Island.
