CPO Directs CTP Accelerate Traffic Awareness Campaign

Rawalpindi: The City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi, Syed Khalid Hamdani, chaired a review meeting instructing various officers to intensify the awareness campaign about traffic rules and road safety.
The meeting was on combating underage driving by initiating special classes in schools for eligible students and spreading awareness about its dangers.
It was decided in the meeting that multiple mediums, like lectures, seminars, radio programs, and more, should be used to educate the public. Additionally, resources were to be increased for the Traffic Education Unit to expand the campaign.

The CPO emphasised strict adherence to traffic signs and regulations, ordering a crackdown on encroachments along Murree Road. He directed efforts towards resolving traffic issues on Murree Road and Adiala Road while improving overall traffic flow in the city.
The police had taken legal action against underage drivers, with 1,108 FIRs filed within 13 days. The spokesman stressed the role of parents in discouraging underage driving, highlighting that fatal accidents often result from reckless driving, especially by underage individuals. The ongoing operation against underage drivers and traffic violators was accelerated.
