Sao Paulo: Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago, President of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), has officially announced the formation of a council focused on advancing climate change adaptation efforts.
The announcement was made during a teleconference at an event held in São Paulo, according to Agência Brasil.
The newly formed Adaptation Council aims to engage civil society and local authorities in identifying and implementing solutions to climate-related challenges.
Corrêa do Lago emphasized that adaptation will be one of the key themes at COP30, which is scheduled to take place in November in Belém, the capital of the Amazonian state of Pará.
“The adaptation council for COP30 includes several Brazilian figures who will support us in this dialogue with civil society and local authorities,” the ambassador said.
The move signals Brazil’s commitment to inclusive and participatory climate governance ahead of the high-profile global summit.
