Cop Martyred, another Injured in Robbers’ Gunfire Near Faizabad

Islamabad: A police officer of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police was martyred while another sustained serious injuries during a late-night exchange of gunfire with armed robbers near Faizabad Metro Station.
According to an official, the incident occurred when a team from the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad Police conducted a raid to apprehend a gang of robbers. The suspects opened indiscriminate fire from multiple directions, prompting a swift and fierce response from the police.
Officer Sudheer Ahmed Abbasi embraced martyrdom in the line of duty, while Constable Jaffar Jahangir was critically injured and is currently receiving treatment at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
Following the incident, Additional Deputy Commissioner General (ADCG) Sahibzada Yousaf, DIG (Operations) Syed Ali Tariq, and other senior officials visited PIMS late at night to inquire about the injured officer and directed the hospital administration to ensure the best possible medical care.
Three senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) are personally leading the follow-up operations. After the attack, police cordoned off the area and launched a large-scale search operation across the district to track down the culprits.
The Islamabad Police reiterated its commitment to arresting the assailants and bringing them to justice, vowing that the sacrifices of its personnel would not go in vain.
