Rawalpindi: The District Health Authority (DHA) Rawalpindi has rolled out comprehensive medical arrangements to ensure the health and safety of mourners during Muharram processions.

According to DHA Chief Executive Officer Dr Asif Arbab Khan Niazi, Clinic on Wheels units have been deployed to accompany processions along their entire routes, providing on-the-spot medical care.

In addition, temporary field hospitals have been set up to respond swiftly to any medical emergencies.

A 24/7 control room has been established to oversee operations and ensure seamless coordination. Dr. Niazi stated that all government hospitals in the district have been placed on high alert, fully stocked with essential medicines and staffed with trained personnel to handle emergency cases linked to the processions.

“Doctors, paramedics, and the District Health Management Team are actively supervising medical services around the clock,” Dr. Niazi said in a video message on Saturday.

He also confirmed that sanitary inspectors are continuously monitoring water distribution points (sabeels) to maintain hygienic conditions for mourners.

Reaffirming the authority’s commitment, Dr Niazi warned that any negligence will not be tolerated. He urged citizens to cooperate with health teams to ensure smooth and effective execution of the arrangements.

“We are fully committed to delivering all possible medical support to the public during the sacred days of Muharram,” he added.
