Cold Weather Grips Sindh, Punjab Amid Rain, Fog
News Desk
Karachi/ Lahore: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast cold and dry weather for most parts of Sindh, while Punjab experienced a significant drop in temperatures due to intermittent rain.
In Sindh, cold and dry weather is expected to persist across the province over the next 24 hours. However, patches of fog and smog are likely during the morning and night in Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Khairpur, Mohenjo-Daro, and surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, Lahore and its adjacent areas witnessed intermittent light rain on Friday morning, accompanied by chilly winds, which lowered the temperature and kept residents indoors. The rain lasted for over three hours in intervals, further intensifying the cold.
According to the PMD, a westerly wave is currently influencing the northeastern parts of the country. As a result, cold and dry weather is expected in most regions, with very cold conditions in hilly areas during morning and night hours.
Frost is likely in upper parts during early morning, while smog and moderate to dense fog are expected to persist in most plain areas of Punjab.
In Lahore, the minimum temperature dropped to 9°C, and the maximum temperature remained below 15°C. The PMD predicts that the weather will stay cool as the westerly system continues to impact the region.
