Abbottabad: The residents of Hazara division find themselves in the grip of a health emergency as a relentless bout of dry weather and a chilling cold wave have ushered in a surge of respiratory ailments. Reports indicate a staggering rise in cases of sore throats, influenza, colds, fevers, and coughs, triggering concern among medical experts.
Dr Junaid Sarwar Malik, a prominent medical specialist, warns of an epidemic outbreak, highlighting the alarming prevalence of pneumonia and infectious diseases like influenza, colds, and coughs. Shockingly, nearly one in every three residents is now affected by these respiratory ailments and allergies.

He stressed the imperative need for preventive measures, advocating for strict adherence to mask usage and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to contain the spread of these illnesses. Additionally, he advises residents to bundle up in warm clothing to shield themselves from the harsh weather conditions exacerbating the health crisis.
In response, the government has initiated efforts to tackle the epidemic. Key hospitals in the region, including Ayub Medical Complex (AMC), District Headquarters Hospital, King Abdullah Hospital, Basic Health Units (BHUs), and public healthcare facilities, are mobilizing to ensure prompt access to essential medicines for those affected.
Amid the escalating situation, the public demands immediate action from the government, urging the swift mobilization of health facilities across the region to address this pressing health emergency.
