Cold Wave to Hit Karachi from January 24, Temperatures to Drop

News Desk

Karachi: A cold wave is set to grip Karachi and several other cities in Sindh starting January 24, with temperatures in the port city expected to drop to single digits, a weather analyst warned on Sunday.

The meteorologist predicted that westerly winds, which began affecting the country from January 18, will continue through January 23. These winds could bring moderate rainfall to several parts of the country and snowfall in mountainous regions.

Sindh cities including Sukkur, Jacobabad, and Larkana are expected to experience moderate rain between January 21 and 23, with other regions possibly seeing cloudy skies.

Earlier, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had forecasted strong winds in Karachi on Saturday, with gusts reaching speeds of 15 kilometers per hour from the northeast. Despite the winds, the weather in the city is expected to remain dry and cool for the next 24 hours.

The PMD also issued a warning for northern parts of the country, predicting high winds and rain, with snowfall expected in the mountains between January 18 and 20.

Karachi has already been experiencing intermittent strong winds for the past week, signaling the arrival of the cold front.
