Cold Wave, Frost Conditions to Persist Across Pakistan

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a significant drop in temperatures across the country this week as a westerly wave affects the upper regions.
According to the PMD, a cold wave is likely to grip most parts of the country until December 14, bringing a noticeable decline in day and night temperatures.
Daytime temperatures are expected to plunge by 4-6°C below normal in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and by 5-7°C below normal in Sindh and Balochistan.
Gusty winds and frost are anticipated over the plains, with Sindh, Balochistan, and parts of Punjab particularly affected.
Moderate rain, wind, and thunderstorms, accompanied by snowfall in hilly areas, are predicted in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Buner, Shangla, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Kohistan, Astore, Ghizer, Gilgit, Hunza, Skardu, Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Kotli, Haveli, and Bagh. This weather activity is expected to persist until December 11 with intermittent breaks.
The public is advised to take necessary precautions to cope with the freezing temperatures and frost conditions, especially in regions prone to snow and icy winds.
