Cold Wave Continues, Snow Expected in GB

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast cold and dry weather across most parts of the country on Friday, with light rain and snowfall expected at isolated locations in northern areas.
According to the PMD, hilly regions will remain partly cloudy and very cold during morning and night hours. Light rain and light snowfall may occur in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, while similar conditions are expected in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, including Chitral, Dir and Swat.
In Islamabad and adjoining areas, the weather is likely to remain dry, with chilly mornings and nights. Gusty winds are expected during the daytime.
Most districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will experience cold and dry conditions, with very cold weather in upper districts during early morning and night hours. Punjab is also expected to remain dry, with cold conditions prevailing across the province. Murree, Galiyat and nearby areas will stay cold and dry, while central and southern districts may experience gusty winds during the day.

Sindh will continue to witness mainly dry weather, while Balochistan is likely to remain partly cloudy and dry in most districts, with colder conditions in northern parts during morning and night.
In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, cold and partly cloudy weather is forecast, with very cold conditions during early morning and night hours. Gilgit-Baltistan may see partly cloudy skies along with light rain and snowfall at isolated places.
Over the past 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed in most parts of the country. The lowest minimum temperatures recorded were in Leh at minus 9 degrees Celsius, Astore at minus 5, Kalam at minus 3, and minus 2 degrees Celsius in Nathia Gali, Hunza, Gupis and Rawalakot.
Minimum and maximum temperatures recorded in major cities included Islamabad (6°C to 26°C), Lahore (10°C to 25°C), Karachi (18°C to 32°C), Peshawar (6°C to 27°C), Quetta (4°C to 18°C), Gilgit (0°C to 18°C), Muzaffarabad (3°C to 23°C), Skardu (0°C to 10°C), Murree (0°C to 17°C), Faisalabad (8°C to 25°C) and Multan (10°C to 25°C).
The PMD said the prevailing cold and dry spell is expected to persist in most regions over the coming days.
