Cold, Dry Weather Predicted Across Most Parts of Pakistan

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mainly cold and dry weather across the country over the next 24 hours, with very cold conditions expected in hilly regions. Shallow fog is also anticipated in parts of Punjab and Sindh during morning hours.

Cold Wave Grips Hilly Areas

According to the PMD, continental air continues to dominate most parts of the country, while a shallow westerly wave is influencing western and upper regions.

Temperatures in the hilly areas remain particularly frigid, with Leh, Skardu, and Astore recording the lowest minimum temperature of -11°C. Other regions, including Gupis (-7°C), Gilgit (-5°C), and Hunza (-4°C), also experienced severe cold.

Shallow to moderate fog patches are likely to appear in parts of Northeast and South Punjab as well as Upper Sindh during morning hours. Specific areas such as Sukkur, Shikarpur, Kashmore, and Khairpur are expected to see reduced visibility due to fog.

Cold Wave Intensifies in Lahore

In Lahore, a cold wave continues, with the minimum temperature recorded at 4.5°C and the maximum reaching 23°C. The PMD has predicted similar conditions for the city over the next 24 hours.

Sindh Braces for Cold and Dry Weather

The PMD has also forecast cold and dry weather across most districts of Sindh, with foggy conditions likely in localized areas such as Sukkur and its surroundings.

Overall, cold and dry weather is expected to persist nationwide, with very cold conditions prevailing in hilly areas and fog affecting visibility in low-lying regions.
