Cold, Dry Spell to Grip Most Parts of the Country on Friday

Islamabad: A fresh wave of cold and dry weather is expected to envelop most parts of the country on Friday, with very cold conditions likely to intensify in hilly regions during the morning and night, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The Met Office reported that a cold and stable air mass continues to dominate the northern and central regions, keeping skies largely clear and causing significant drops in night-time temperatures.
Regional Forecasts:
Islamabad & Federal Capital: Cold and dry conditions will persist throughout the day, with chilly evening and night winds adding to the cold feel.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Hilly districts will remain very cold, particularly during early morning hours. Light patches of shallow fog may form in Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, and Dera Ismail Khan, temporarily reducing visibility.

Punjab: Cold and dry weather will dominate from north to south. Upper regions, including Murree and Galliyat, will remain cold throughout the day. Smog and shallow fog are likely in urban centres such as Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Multan, affecting visibility and air quality, especially in the morning and night.
Sindh: Dry continental winds will maintain dry weather across the province.
Balochistan: Clear skies will bring chilly days and cold nights.
Kashmir & Gilgit-Baltistan: Cold to very cold conditions will continue, with temperatures dropping sharply after sunset. Light snowfall is possible in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, which may briefly disrupt travel in mountainous areas.
During the past 24 hours, most of the country experienced dry weather, while hilly regions remained cold to very cold. Smog and shallow fog persisted in several plains of Punjab and KP, slightly reducing visibility in the early morning.
Lowest Minimum Temperatures Recorded: Skardu -6°C, Leh -4°C, Gilgit -3°C, Babusar -3°C, Gupis -3°C.
