COAS Asim Munir Vows Precision Strikes Against Terror Networks

Rawalpindi: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces, Syed Asim Munir, on Wednesday underscored the need for national cohesion and a united stance against terrorism, while warning that militant groups operating against Pakistan would be dealt with through precise, intelligence-driven operations.
During an interaction with Ulema from the Ahl-e-Tasheeh community, the army chief highlighted the growing importance of religious leadership in fostering harmony and countering divisive narratives, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
He stressed that Pakistan would not tolerate the use of Afghan territory for launching attacks against its citizens, urging the Afghan Taliban to ensure their soil is not exploited by terrorist elements.

Focusing on the internal dimension, the COAS called on Ulema to play a proactive role in promoting tolerance, discouraging sectarianism, and countering misinformation as well as externally driven destabilisation efforts.
He further cautioned against the misuse of religious sentiments to incite violence, stating that no unrest in Pakistan would be tolerated on the basis of incidents occurring outside the country.
Highlighting Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach, the army chief noted ongoing efforts aimed at regional de-escalation and stability.
The participating scholars reaffirmed their commitment to peace and stability, strongly condemning violence carried out in the name of religion. They also expressed full support for law enforcement agencies in maintaining order and strengthening national unity, the statement added.
