Cloudflare Outage Disrupts Major Websites, Including X

News Desk

Islamabad: A major Cloudflare outage on Tuesday caused widespread disruptions across multiple websites and services globally, with platforms like X (formerly Twitter) experiencing significant downtime.

According to Cloudflare’s official Status page, users were met with internal server error notifications, advising them to retry after a few minutes. The company confirmed it was investigating a system-wide issue affecting numerous customers.

“Cloudflare is aware of, and investigating an issue which potentially impacts multiple customers: widespread 500 errors, Cloudflare Dashboard and API also failing,” the company said in an early update. “We are working to understand the full impact and mitigate this problem. More updates to follow shortly.”

In a later update, Cloudflare reported signs of recovery: “We are seeing services recover, but customers may continue to observe higher-than-normal error rates as we continue remediation efforts.”

Earlier, the firm acknowledged an “internal service degradation” that was intermittently affecting some services, adding that teams were focused on full restoration.

The outage also affected tracking site DownDetector, which faced its own technical issues as users tried to check the extent of the disruptions.

Independent watchdog NetBlocks confirmed the global scale of the incident, noting that the outage was “not related to country-level internet disruptions or filtering.”

The interruption led to thousands of users worldwide reporting accessibility issues on X and several other websites that rely on Cloudflare’s infrastructure.
