Climate Talks Resonate in Sukkur

Sukkur: On the conclusive day of the Sukkur Youth STEM Learning Festival, speakers underscored the imperative to integrate climate change education and emergency response strategies into the academic curriculum.
Active participation was observed from approximately thirty government schools in the Sukkur region, presenting their science models during the festival, which drew an audience of about 16,000 attendees over the three-day period.During a panel discussion held on Saturday, experts issued a call to the government to develop a curriculum concentrating on climate literacy at the school level.
They emphasized the significance of educating the younger generation and formulating comprehensive adaptation plans to address the challenges posed by climate change.
In order to foster a sustainable educational environment, particularly concerning climate issues for future generations, experts highlighted the necessity for the government to be cognizant of the local impacts of climate change and adjust its policies accordingly.
Notably, experts including Afia Salam, Farhan Memon, and Prem Sagar stressed the importance of the education department organizing evening classes for children who are out of school.They advocated for the establishment of a model union council with the ambitious goal of achieving a 100% literacy ratio. Furthermore, they put forth a proposal urging the government to allocate 4 percent of the GDP for education and called on political parties to prioritize education in their manifestos.
