Islamabad: The concerned department of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) is showing apathy towards the Christian cemetery located in Sector H-9. Due to inadequate measures, the Christian cemetery is full of wild bushes.
Talking to the government-run news agency, a Christian community member Afzal Hans said there was no proper mechanism to look after the graveyard, and employees deployed for the maintenance and cleanliness of the graveyard often remained missing from their duty.
Hans further informed that he went to attend the funeral ritual of his sister in the cemetery recently where he observed that there was no grave-digger available, adding the graveyard area full of wild bushes which were higher than the average height of a man.

The Christian community member said when he contacted the concerned authority, received a cold response and was directed to dig the grave with the help of the deceased family or to hire the services of some other grave-diggers.
Afzal Hans urged the concerned authority to take notice of the grave issue and solve it on humanitarian grounds.
Earlier, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had also expressed his displeasure over the poor performance of the civic bodies of the capital city with regard to cleanliness system, beautification of the city, encroachments in markets, and provision of basic facilities to the residents of Islamabad.
