Chinese Govt Announces Scholarships for Pakistani Students

Islamabad: The Chinese government has unveiled the 2025-26 scholarship program for students from Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), providing opportunities to pursue undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral studies in Chinese universities.

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan announced that the deadline for submitting online applications is Monday, December 9, 2024. Candidates must submit their applications through both the HEC portal and the China Scholarship Council (CSC) portal to qualify.

Key Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be Pakistani or AJK nationals. Dual nationality holders are ineligible.
  • Applicants must be in good health.
  • Undergraduate applicants must have completed FA/FSc or A-Levels (12 years of education) and be under 25 years old.
  • Master’s program applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree (16 years of education) and be under 35 years old.
  • Doctoral program applicants must hold a master’s degree (MS/MPhil) and be under 40 years old.
  • A valid HAT (obtained on or after December 9, 2022) or USAT score (obtained on or after December 9, 2023) is mandatory. The minimum required score is 50 out of 100.

Application Process:

  • Submit an online application on the China Scholarship Council (CSC) portal under Category A (Agency No. 5861) at CampusChina.org.
  • Submit a separate application via the HEC online portal at scholarship.hec.gov.pk under “Learning Opportunities Abroad.”
  • After submission, applicants must print and sign their applications.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • Full tuition coverage, administrative fees, and health insurance by the host university.
  • Free dormitory accommodation or an accommodation subsidy.
  • Monthly stipends as per the Chinese government’s scholarship policy.
  • Travel costs will be borne by the scholarship recipients.

The HEC portal will close at 4:00 PM PST on December 9, 2024, and incomplete or late applications will not be entertained.

This initiative aims to strengthen educational cooperation between Pakistan and China, contributing to bilateral relations under the umbrella of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
