Beijing: China has emerged as one of the top three trading partners for 157 countries and regions across the globe, Sun Meijun, head of the General Administration of Customs (GAC), announced at a press conference on Monday.

According to Sun, China’s trade with Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) partner countries reached 22 trillion yuan (around 3 trillion U.S. dollars) in 2024, accounting for more than half of the nation’s total imports and exports.

Trade with emerging markets—including ASEAN, Latin America, Africa, and Central Asia—has expanded at an annual growth rate of over 10 percent since the launch of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), he added.

Highlighting Beijing’s focus on global economic integration, Sun noted that China has signed 519 international cooperation documents since 2021 aimed at promoting mutual economic benefits and strengthening trade ties.
