China Slams Israel’s ‘Brutal Attacks’ on Iran, Warns of Regional Instability

Beijing/Tehran: China has sharply criticised Israel for its recent military strikes on Iranian territory, calling them “brutal attacks” that violate international law and threaten to destabilise the Middle East at a time when diplomatic options remain available.
In separate phone calls with the foreign ministers of Iran and Israel, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed Beijing’s deep concern over the escalation. Speaking with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, Wang denounced the strikes and urged Tel Aviv to pursue peaceful solutions instead of force.
“China firmly opposes the use of force by Israel against Iran, particularly while political dialogue on the nuclear issue is still possible,” Wang said.
Wang reiterated that “force cannot bring lasting peace” and stressed that the international community has not yet exhausted the diplomatic path. He urged both sides to de-escalate and return to the negotiating table.
In a call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Wang expressed solidarity with Tehran and condemned Israel for violating Iran’s sovereignty and targeting nuclear facilities. He warned that such actions could set “a dangerous precedent” and pose grave risks to regional stability.
The statements from Beijing come amid intensifying hostilities. Iran’s ongoing Operation True Promise III—a large-scale retaliation for Israeli airstrikes that killed senior Iranian military officials and nuclear scientists—has already resulted in at least 15 deaths and hundreds of injuries in Israeli cities such as Tel Aviv and Haifa.
The mounting violence has raised fears of a broader regional war.
China’s vocal condemnation underscores its growing diplomatic ambitions in the region. Beijing recently played a key role in restoring ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran and continues to advocate for multilateral diplomacy and regional cooperation.
