China Hosts First-Ever Humanoid Robot Boxing Match

Beijing: As China gears up for the much-anticipated World Robot Games, set to commence in Beijing on August 15, humanoid robots are capturing public attention and redefining the boundaries of technology and sports.

In a groundbreaking event, the eastern city of Hangzhou hosted the world’s first-ever boxing match exclusively featuring humanoid robots. The event, titled “China Media Group World Robot Competition – Meta Fighting Series,” marked a major milestone in the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into competitive sports.

The live-streamed spectacle brought together a lineup of advanced humanoid robots, all designed by Chinese tech company Unitree Robotics. With agile footwork, swift punches, and impressive coordination, the robots demonstrated not only their physical capabilities but also the rapid advancements in AI and robotics engineering.
