Quetta: A little girl from Musakhail underwent a successful operation at the Children’s Hospital Quetta on Wednesday, following a special directive from Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar.

The girl’s plight gained attention after a viral video circulated on social media, prompting the Chief Minister and Health Minister to take immediate action.

According to a press release, she was admitted to the Children’s Hospital, where treatment began promptly.

Prof Ghulam Nabi Nasir, the Head of Pediatric Surgery, performed a two-and-a-half-hour operation to remove a 5 kg sacrococcygeal teratoma (SCT) from the girl.

He explained that SCT is a rare, congenital tumor located near the tailbone, with an incidence of approximately one in every 35,000 babies, making it the most common tumor found in newborns.

The girl’s parents had previously sought treatment in Punjab but were unable to proceed due to financial constraints.

Grateful for the support, the girl’s parents expressed their heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, and Prof. Ghulam Nabi Nasir for their assistance in facilitating her treatment.
