Chapman’s Heroics Propel Kiwis to Victory Over Pakistan

Islamabad: New Zealand secured a decisive victory against Pakistan, with Mark Chapman delivering a standout performance.
His unbeaten 87 runs played a pivotal role in the Kiwis’ commanding seven-wicket win during the third Twenty20 International at Rawalpindi’s Pindi Stadium.
This win underscored New Zealand’s strength and sets the stage for an intriguing series finale.
In pursuit of Pakistan’s total of 178 runs, Chapman showcased his prowess by scoring 87 runs off just 42 balls, including nine boundaries and four sixes. His remarkable innings earned him the player of the match award.
Chapman received valuable support from fellow batters Dean Foxcroft, Tim Robinson, and Tim Seifert as New Zealand chased down the target of 179 runs. James Neesham also contributed with an unbeaten 6 runs.
Among the Pakistani bowlers, Abbas Afridi and Naseem Shah stood out, both claiming three wickets each. Afridi finished with figures of 2 for 27, while Shah conceded 44 runs for his one wicket.
Earlier, Pakistan posted a total of 178 runs for the loss of four wickets. Shadab Khan top-scored with a quickfire 41 off 20 balls, supported by Babar Azam’s 37 off 29 balls.
Opener Saim Ayub contributed 32 runs, Irfan Khan added a valuable 30 not out, and Mohammad Rizwan scored 22 runs before retiring hurt due to discomfort in his right hamstring.
Unfortunately, Josh Clarkson and Ben Lister were unavailable for Sunday’s match due to illness.
In response to Azam Khan’s injury, the national selection committee has named wicketkeeper-batsman Haseebullah as his replacement for the T20I series against New Zealand. Haseebullah will be in contention for selection in the remaining two T20Is set to be held in Lahore on Thursday and Saturday.
This marked the third five-match series between Pakistan and New Zealand within a 12-month period. Last year, the series ended in a draw at two-all in Pakistan, while New Zealand emerged victorious with a 4-1 series win earlier this year on their home turf.
