Islamabad: The perfect Kabab Masala recipe to enjoy as a special Bakra treat! Bold spices and tender kababs come together to create a festive favorite.
Ingredients
For Kabab Preparation:
- Beef mince – 1 kg
- Red chili flakes – 1 tbsp
- Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
- Red chili powder – 1 tbsp
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Green chilies (sliced) – 2-3
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
For Kabab Masala:
- Oil – 1/2 cup
- Onion paste – 1 cup
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
- Tomato puree – 1 cup
- Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
- Red chili powder – 1/2 tbsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
- Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
- Salt – 1 tsp
- Yogurt – 1 cup
- Hot water – 1 cup
- Prepared kababs (from above)
- Green coriander (for garnish)
- Green chilies (julienne, for garnish)
Directions
- In a chopper, combine beef mince, red chili flakes, coriander powder, red chili powder, salt, sliced green chilies, and ginger garlic paste. Chop well to mix everything evenly.
- Shape the mixture onto skewers to form kababs.
- Shallow fry the kababs until they are half cooked. Set aside.
- In a pot, heat oil and add onion paste. Cook for 1 minute. Add ginger garlic paste and sauté for 30 seconds.
- Add tomato puree and cook for 2–3 minutes.
- Stir in coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, and salt. Cook for another 2–3 minutes.
- Add yogurt and cook the mixture until oil separates from the masala.
- Pour in hot water, mix well, and add the partially cooked kababs. Cover and cook until kababs are fully done.
- Garnish with fresh green coriander and julienned green chilies before serving.
