CDA to Implement Cashless Economy System Across All Deptts
News Desk
Islamabad: In a major step towards digital transformation, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced the rollout of a cashless economy system across all its departments.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, a CDA spokesperson told APP on Wednesday.
The new system will allow citizens to make payments for various CDA services—including property tax, water charges, land transfers, and parking fees—through QR codes and other digital platforms.
“This initiative will not only ensure greater transparency but also enhance the speed, ease, and efficiency of public service delivery,” the spokesperson quoted Chairman Randhawa as saying. He added that the move aligns with the broader vision of transforming Islamabad from a ‘safe city’ into a ‘smart capital city.’
Under the new initiative, QR code-based payment systems will be deployed at CDA offices and facilitation centers. Plans are also underway to launch dedicated online portals and mobile applications in collaboration with local banks.
To ensure a smooth transition, the CDA will conduct staff training sessions and run public awareness campaigns. The CDA chief has also directed the immediate and full activation of the One-Window Facilitation Center, which will be integrated with the cashless payment system.
“We aim to provide citizens with the best in modern and digital services,” Randhawa said, urging all departments to act swiftly on the implementation.
According to the spokesperson, CDA’s drive toward a cashless economy is part of the federal government’s broader agenda to modernize governance and public service delivery through digital innovation. If successful, it could become a model for other government institutions across Pakistan.
