CDA’s Expressway Project Hits Snag, Fails to Reach Finish Line

News Desk

Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) administration has faced challenges in completing the Islamabad Expressway project according to the planned schedule.

The initial deadlines set for the construction of roads by December and bridges by March were not met, leading to delays and subsequent difficulties for the city.

Specifically, key components such as the Japan Road underpass, Bhandar Bridge, and Swan Bridge are still under construction, contributing to ongoing problems for citizens.

Concerned residents have urged the Chairman of CDA to expedite the project completion process.

CDA officials have cited funding constraints as a primary reason for the sluggish progress, which has hampered the pace of work.

However, assurances have been made that the road construction will be finalized by June, with bridge construction expected to be completed by July-August. Efforts are underway to lay the roof of the Japan Road underpass in the coming week, the officials said.

It’s important to note that the contract for the project, which includes the expansion of Bhandar Bridge, construction of Swan Bridge, and the Japan Underpass, was awarded for a significant sum of rupees.

Despite the challenges, there is a commitment from the authorities to ensure the timely completion of this vital infrastructure project for Islamabad.
