Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the ICT Administration have conducted a targeted operation against the land grabbers and their associates operating in Islamabad’s Sinyari village and Chauntra village.

Islamabad Capital Police (ICP) assisted CDA and district administration with the operation during which the law enforcement officers faced fierce resistance from the land-grabbing mafia, including gunfire and stone-pelting.

Nine ICP officials and a civilian sustained injuries, while nine police vehicles were damaged during an operation in Sinyari village on Monday.  Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations reached the spot along with a heavy police contingent.

In the immediate aftermath of the incident, the injured officers were promptly shifted to hospitals for urgent medical attention. Simultaneously, legal action is being pursued against those responsible for the violence.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Enforcement launched an operation on September 18 with the assistance of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration and Islamabad Police against illegal constructions at Sector D-11’s Chauntra village on acquired state land.

At least nine policemen and three villagers received injuries during the operation in Margalla Hills without clearing locals’ pending dues first.

Chauntra is located adjacent to sectors D-10 and E-10, where army installations will be constructed, and the land of this village was also allotted to the armed forces in 2004 but the civic agency had not removed construction from the land.

During the operation, law enforcement personnel faced stiff resistance from local villagers who claimed ownership of the land and refused to vacate the area. The official further contended that police resorted to baton-charge and teargas shelling when locals pelted stones at them and continued resisting the operation. Agencies/APP
