Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has intensified its operation against encroachments on Pothwar Avenue, removing over 290 illegal structures as part of its ongoing beautification and urban development efforts.
CDA’s Enforcement Directorate has been conducting active patrols and surveillance to enhance the area’s appeal, CDA officials reported to Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa on Thursday. The meeting, attended by key CDA officials, highlighted significant progress in removing encroachments and advancing the beautification of Pothwar Avenue.
Environmental initiatives are also in full swing, with over 1,413 trees being planted along the thoroughfare.
Additionally, Chairman Randhawa directed the replacement of traditional advertising boards with digital ones to improve the aesthetic value and generate revenue to fund further improvements.
“The revenue from digital boards will directly support Pothwar Avenue’s uplift,” Randhawa said. He also suggested a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) model to engage local businesses in the beautification drive.
Enforcement teams have been instructed to provide weekly drone footage to monitor the progress of the anti-encroachment campaign closely.
