Faisalabad: At least six buffaloes have died, and three dozen more cattle are in serious condition after consuming water contaminated with effluent from a local chemical mill, according to the local police.

The incident occurred on Wednesday when Idrees, a cattle farmer from Chak No. 103-RB, led his herd to graze in fields near Jaranwala Road.

The cattle drank from a water course that had been polluted by the discharge from the nearby chemical mill.

The contaminated water caused the immediate death of six buffaloes, with another three dozen cattle reportedly in critical condition.

The police have launched an investigation into the matter following the complaint received from the affected farmer.
