Category 5 Hurricane Milton Roars Towards Florida

United States: Hurricane Milton intensified into a potentially catastrophic Category 5 storm on Monday as it heads towards Florida, just weeks after the state was hit by Hurricane Helene.
Milton, with sustained winds of 165 miles per hour (270 kilometers per hour), is expected to affect Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula before making its way toward Florida’s west coast.
Communities still recovering from Helene’s damage have been rushing to clear debris, which could become dangerous projectiles as Milton approaches.
Evacuations have been ordered in several areas, and residents are preparing for another round of potentially devastating conditions.
David Levitsky, a retired homeowner from Treasure Island in Pinellas County, expressed concern about the remaining debris from Helene’s flooding, stating, “All this stuff is just wind fodder that’s going to be blowing down the street and hitting who knows what.”
