Car-Lifter Killed in Shootout with Police Identified

Rawalpindi: The identity of a car lifter who was killed in a shootout with the police in the jurisdiction of Ratta Amral Police Station on Thursday has been confirmed.

According to a spokesman for Rawalpindi Police, the deceased suspect was identified as Abuzar, who was wanted in more than two dozen cases of car theft and drug trafficking across Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

The incident occurred when Abuzar and his accomplices were attempting to flee after stealing a car from the New Town area. On suspicion, Ratta Amral Police intercepted their vehicle at a checkpoint. However, the suspects opened fire on the police and tried to escape.

A chase ensued, leading the suspects to abandon the stolen vehicle and take refuge in a nearby graveyard.

During the ensuing exchange of fire, Abuzar sustained serious injuries and succumbed to them while being transported to the hospital. His accomplices managed to escape and remain at large.

Police have launched a search operation to apprehend the remaining suspects and recover stolen vehicles.
