Can A Loan Be Taken To Pay Sadaqat al-Fitr or Not?
Muhammad Rafiq
Karachi: The stance presented by Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman on taking a loan to pay Sadaqah al-Fitr is quite clear:
It is not permissible to take a loan to fulfill the obligation of Sadaqah al-Fitr.
Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman emphasizes that Sadaqah al-Fitr is only obligatory on those who have the means to pay it, and if someone does not have the ability to pay, they are not required to do so.
In such cases, they have the right to receive Sadaqah al-Fitr instead of giving it. Taking a loan to pay Sadaqah al-Fitr would contradict the principles of Islamic finance, as it would be making a non-obligatory act obligatory upon oneself.
