Rawalpindi: The Punjab Cabinet Committee on Law and Order visited the main procession route in Rawalpindi on Saturday to review all arrangements.

Led by Khawaja Salman Rafique, the committee members meticulously inspected the preparations and issued instructions to ensure law and order. The committee was informed that the main procession would commence at Imambargah Colonel Maqbool Hussain and conclude at Imambargah Qadeemi.

During their visit, the committee also stopped by Madrassa Taleem-ul-Quran and met with Mohtamam Maulana Ashraf Ali. Khawaja Salman Rafique remarked, “We witnessed an atmosphere of interfaith harmony, unity, peace, and tolerance throughout the province during our visits to different cities.”

He highlighted that peace committees were actively promoting interfaith harmony alongside the security measures. “We need to forget our differences and focus on commonalities,” he stated.

Three security tiers have been established for the protection of processions and majalis across Punjab. Additionally, the use of loudspeakers and social media is being monitored, and records of majalis and Muharram processions are being compiled.

Rafique emphasized the importance of a thorough briefing for officials deployed in the field. “Sabeels, Niaz, and Langar are being managed under the direction of Chief Minister Punjab,” he informed.

The delegation included Provincial Ministers Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman, Bilal Akbar Khan, and Special Assistant Zeeshan Malik.

Also present were Secretary Home Department Punjab Noor ul Amin Mengal, Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar, Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Aamir Khattak, Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi Region Babar Sarfaraz Alpa, and members of the Divisional and District Peace Committee.
