Islamabad: India’s Jasprit Bumrah has achieved the joint-highest rating points ever recorded by an Indian Test bowler, reaching 904 points.
His remarkable performance in the third Test against Australia, where he claimed nine wickets for 94 runs, secured his position at the top of the ICC Test bowling rankings.
Bumrah’s 21 wickets in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship series have placed him 48 points ahead of South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada, who holds 856 points.
This achievement ties Bumrah with Ravichandran Ashwin, who previously reached 904 points in December 2016.
Meanwhile, Pakistani players have also made strides in the ICC ODI rankings. Saim Ayub, named Player of the Series in Pakistan’s recent 3-0 ODI victory against South Africa, has climbed 57 spots to achieve a career-best 23rd position. Ayub’s performances included scores of 109, 25, and 101.
Salman Agha also advanced, moving up 28 places to 80th in the batting rankings. Among South Africans, Tony de Zorzi has risen 12 places to 59th, and Heinrich Klaasen re-entered the top five following consistent performances.
In the bowling rankings, South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada (up to 19th) and Marco Jansen (up to 35th) made gains, while Pakistan’s Naseem Shah climbed 10 places to 51st.
Afghanistan players have also made notable progress. Fazalhaq Farooqi rose to 37th, and Azmatullah Omarzai climbed to 58th in the ODI bowling rankings following their series victory over Zimbabwe.
In T20I rankings, Bangladesh’s Mahedi Hasan has entered the top 10, while the West Indies’ Roston Chase advanced to 13th place.
