United Nations: “The life and teachings of Gautam Buddha have left an indelible impact on the world, inspiring countless generations to pursue a path of peace, compassion, and non-violence,” said Ambassador Munir Akram on the Day of Vesak.
Pakistan on Thursday highlighted Gautam Buddha’s message of peace, empathy, and non-violence at a commemoration of his birth, enlightenment, and passing. The event was co-sponsored by the Permanent Missions to the United Nations of Thailand and Sri Lanka.
Munir Akram said that the culture that the Buddha introduced to the world, as shown in the famous ancient city of Taxila and the holy shrine of Takht-i-Bahi, has tremendously benefited the country of Pakistan and the Indus Valley.

“The holy day of Vesak is a chance to consider the Buddha’s enduring wisdom,” the Pakistani envoy added.
“In order for us to successfully navigate the intricacies and stormy problems of our day, peace, understanding, and a vision of humanity that transcends national and other international divisions are very necessary,” Ambassador Munir stated.
Akram further added, “On this Day of Vesak, let’s all reaffirm our commitment to working as one humanity, being kind and compassionate to those who are most in need, and honestly leaving no one behind as we pursue peace and prosperity.”
