Brother, Father, Ex-Husband Kill Couple in Honor Dispute

Kot Adu: A married couple was shot dead in an honor killing incident in Kot Addu district of Punjab on Saturday.

According to the local police, the couple was killed by the woman’s brother, father, and former husband because she had contracted a marriage against the will of her family after divorcing her first husband and remarrying.

The victim, Shazia Bibi, had another man.

The local police reported that Shazia Bibi left the house a year ago, got her marriage annulled from her first husband, Tanveer, and then married Tariq. 

Shazia’s family initially filed a kidnapping case against Tariq, but this was dismissed after the couple obtained a marriage certificate, corroborating Shazia’s statement. 

On the day of the incident, Shazia’s brother Dilawar, her father Hashim, and her ex-husband Tanveer broke into the couple’s house and shot them dead. 

According to SHO Sananwan Police Station Shahid Rizwan, a case has been registered, and raids are being conducted to arrest the suspected murderers.
