BRICS Condemns US, Israeli Strikes on Iran, Calls for Gaza Ceasefire

Rio De Janeiro: The 17th BRICS Summit concluded in Brazil with member nations issuing a strong joint declaration condemning recent US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran, calling them violations of international law and a threat to regional stability.
The statement was endorsed by the expanded BRICS bloc—comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and Indonesia—and addressed a wide array of global challenges, including the crisis in the Middle East, trade tensions, and institutional reforms.
The leaders voiced deep concern over the escalating violence in Gaza and demanded an immediate ceasefire. The declaration reaffirmed BRICS’ support for a two-state solution based on international law and relevant UN resolutions, recognising Gaza as an integral part of the State of Palestine.
In a strongly worded section of the communiqué, BRICS denounced the recent strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian territory, calling them “unprovoked acts of aggression” that destabilize the region and contravene international law.
The bloc also criticised the United States for imposing unilateral trade tariffs, warning that such measures erode confidence in the multilateral trading system.
Highlighting the growing imbalance in global financial governance, the leaders reiterated calls to reform international financial institutions—particularly the International Monetary Fund (IMF)—arguing that the current quota and voting structures fail to reflect the shifting dynamics of the global economy.
With the inclusion of new members, the BRICS coalition continues to project itself as a counterbalance to Western-dominated institutions, advocating for a more equitable, multipolar world order.
