Islamabad: Dewald Brevis etched his name into the record books with a stunning T20I performance for South Africa against Australia in Darwin.

  • 125 –* Brevis’ unbeaten knock is now the highest individual score for South Africa in T20 Internationals, surpassing Faf du Plessis’ 119 against West Indies in 2015.
  • It’s also the highest-ever T20I score in Australia, overtaking Shane Watson’s 124 against India in Sydney in 2016.
  • At 22 years and 105 days, Brevis became the youngest South African to score a T20I century. The previous youngest was Richard Levi, who was 24 years and 36 days old when he scored a century against New Zealand in 2012.
  • His hundred came off just 41 balls, making it the second-fastest T20I century by a South African, behind David Miller’s 35-ball ton against Bangladesh in 2017.
  • Brevis also became the first player to score a T20I century against Australia on Australian soil, and his 125* is now the highest individual T20I score ever against Australia, breaking the previous record held by Ruturaj Gaikwad.

South Africa posted 218 for 7, their highest T20I total against Australia, surpassing the 204 for 7 they made in Johannesburg in 2016.

  • After the fall of the third wicket, South Africa added 161 runs, their most in a T20I innings after a third wicket. Brevis and Tristan Stubbs put together a 126-run partnership for the fourth wicket, with Brevis contributing 91 of those runs.

On the bowling side, Josh Hazlewood endured his most expensive outing in T20Is, finishing with figures of 1 for 56 in his four overs.
