Breast Cancer: KTH Launched Free Medical Camp, Awareness Campaign

Peshawar: Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) and Khyber Medical College have initiated a breast cancer awareness campaign and organised a free camp in the hospital’s OPD (outpatient patient department) basement.
This camp offers clinical examinations and educational sessions on breast cancer and related diseases, including guidance on self-examinations for women, various seminars, and free ultrasounds
Under the supervision of Professor Mah Munir and Assistant Professor Iram Sabir, the KTH Peshawar Surgery Department is observing the month of October as an awareness month against breast cancer.
This free camp will continue for the entire month of October from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday, informed Director (Medical) Prof Muhammad Ayaz Khan.
Free screenings and breast awareness camps are organised every year, during which more than 1,500 women are screened, and about 20 to 30 women are diagnosed with breast cancer and receive timely treatment provided to them.
KTH Director Dr Muhammad Zafar Afridi has issued instructions to all managerial and related departments for the provision of all services, including free blood screening for patients.
Dr Afridi has urged the departments to play an effective role against the disease and to raise awareness among the general public.
