Boy Tortured to Death in Layyah; Couple Arrested

Muzaffargarh: A tragic incident unfolded in Layyah, where an 11-year-old boy, Daim Shahbaz, was allegedly tortured to death under the pretext of performing rituals.
Police said a murder case has been registered against a couple, Shahbaz Gul and Martha Shahbaz Gul, residents of Alishan Colony, Layyah, following a complaint by the victim’s uncle, Ejaz Akhtar of Chak No. 75 A TDA.
According to the FIR, the accused had taken the boy from his home three months ago, claiming they wanted a child as they had none.
During this period, the boy was allegedly subjected to severe torture in the name of spiritual rituals. The family discovered the signs of abuse, including burn marks from a heated iron, when the body was delivered for funeral rites.
Police confirmed the arrests of both suspects and said an initial medical examination corroborated the signs of torture. The Station House Officer (SHO) stated that a thorough investigation is ongoing, and the accused will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Man Arrested for Impersonating Sensitive Agency Officer
Rawat Police arrested a man who falsely claimed to be an officer of a sensitive agency and recovered a fake identity card and uniform from him.
A police spokesman said the suspect was stopped during a routine verification by a patrolling team. He initially introduced himself as a senior officer of a sensitive agency, but suspicious behavior prompted further checks. The man later admitted to providing false information.
A case has been registered against the suspect, who remains in police custody, and the fake ID and uniform have been seized as evidence.
