The boy’s body was discovered in a nearby drain the following day. Police said the child was accustomed to bathing in the drain, which is located very close to his house.
Station House Officer (SHO) Khanna, Umar Hayat, told APP that repeated awareness messages had been issued to residents, advising them to avoid bathing in drains due to rising water levels and flood-like conditions.
He expressed sorrow over the tragic incident and confirmed that the case was under investigation to assess all possible aspects.
The police once again appealed to citizens to refrain from bathing in drains or flood channels, stressing that such practices are extremely hazardous, particularly during periods of high water flow.
