Earlier, five coal miners from Shangla district lost their lives after the mine they were working in collapsed in the Yasta Tora Wadi area of Kurram district, local sources confirmed on Sunday.

According to reports, a total of six miners were trapped underground when a landslide occurred inside the coal mine. Five of the trapped workers were residents of Poran tehsil, Shangla, while the sixth hailed from Swat district.

The deceased miners from Shangla were identified as Tajullah, Zia-ur-Rehman, Shaukat, Nazullah, and Jan Muhammad.

Rescue teams, assisted by local volunteers, rushed to the site and launched immediate operations. As of the latest reports, the body of Zia-ur-Rehman has been recovered from the debris.

Efforts were underway to retrieve the remaining bodies. Officials said the depth of the mine and severe waterlogging were hampering rescue operations, though heavy machinery was being used to remove the rubble and clear access paths.
