Lahore: A blood donation drive at Government College University (GCU) Lahore draws huge success as over 200 bottles of blood were collected for children suffering from thalassemia and cancer on the first day.

The students and faculty came together to donate blood at a two-day camp organised by the University’s Blood Donor Society (BDS) in partnership with the Fatimid Foundation.

GCU Vice Chancellor Dr Asghar Zaidi visited the camp and donated blood, encouraging others to do the same.

The vice chancellor stated that the BDS donates more than 1600 units of blood to patients each year. “The camp this year served as a further proof of the university’s dedication to having a good impact on the community,” Dr Asghar added.

Students who took part in the blood drive emphasised the value of blood donation and how good it is for donors’ health. “Blood donation is a selfless act that saves lives and is advantageous to the donor because it lowers the risk of heart attack, cancer, and improves blood pressure and cholesterol levels,” they said.
