Liaquat further added that interfaith harmony fosters a spirit of love and brotherhood in society.
Chatta directed the authorities to swiftly complete the construction work, particularly in the area reserved for minorities in the Rakh graveyard.
The Rakh Dhamial graveyard, one of the largest cemeteries in Rawalpindi, is grappling with overcrowding and poor maintenance.
Situated on the city’s outskirts, it serves as the main burial site for residents of surrounding areas. However, the shortage of space, lack of management, and inadequate sanitation have made burials increasingly difficult for families.
Visitors also report broken pathways, poor lighting, and missing boundary walls in several sections, raising concerns over security and the dignity of graves. Locals have called on the authorities to expand the graveyard and ensure its regular upkeep to maintain its sanctity.
