Cairo: US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Cairo on Wednesday to advance efforts for a ceasefire in Gaza, which have been further complicated by recent deadly explosions targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon.

On his 10th visit to the Middle East since the onset of the Gaza conflict nearly a year ago, Blinken met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. He is also scheduled to hold a press conference with Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.

Blinken’s trip does not include stops in other Arab capitals or Israel. According to the US State Department, the primary goal of his visit is to engage in negotiation efforts with Egyptian officials.
