Islamabad: The Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment (BEOE), an attached department of the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (OP&HD), has blacklisted around 40 technical trade centers across the country due to complaints of fraud involving innocent citizens.

An official source from BEOE stated that the primary function of the department is to control and regulate emigration under the Emigration Ordinance, 1979, while also promoting the emigration of Pakistani citizens.

BEOE is responsible for safeguarding the interests and welfare of emigrants and advising the Federal Government on emigration policies and procedures.

Additionally, the BEOE monitors and supervises Overseas Employment Promoters (OEPs) through seven Protectorates of Emigrants Offices and processes OEP licenses. The department also provides pre-departure briefings for emigrants and ensures mandatory insurance coverage for Pakistani workers abroad.

Key functions of the BEOE include establishing Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with foreign countries for manpower export and managing the State Life Emigrants Insurance Fund (SLEIF). The official advised job seekers aiming for overseas employment to only approach valid OEPs to avoid loss of time, money, and energy.

Currently, only 2,577 OEP licenses remain valid, while over 5,048 have been declared invalid. Of the invalid licenses, 670 were canceled for various reasons, 805 expired, and the remainder were voluntarily surrendered.

All foreign job seekers are encouraged to regularly visit the official BEOE webpage for updated and valid information to protect themselves from unauthorized OEPs.
