Beautification, Weight, Milk Contests at UAF

Faisalabad: A two-day ‘Cattle Festival,’ featuring beautification, weight, and milk contests for sheep, goats, camels, and calves, was inaugurated at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) on Friday.

The festival attracted many sacrificial animal enthusiasts, drawing a large crowd to the university. 

UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan emphasized that value addition in dairy and meat production could significantly increase foreign exchange earnings after domestic needs are met.

Dr Iqrar highlighted the great potential of local breeds and stated that the university provides a platform for the farming community and agricultural scientists to collaboratively address agricultural issues scientifically. 

He noted that the festival is an annual tradition aimed at strengthening the ties between farmers and agricultural experts.

Dr Qamar Bilal mentioned the strong relationship with the industry and the farming community, which aids collective efforts in ensuring food security in the country.

 He stressed the importance of promoting local breeds with good practices suited to local climatic conditions. 

Chaudhry Atta Muhammad Gujjar added that with the adoption of modern trends, the goal of increasing per-animal production can be effectively achieved.
